ABOUT TALHFA

TALHFA is a statewide non-profit organization established in 1989 for the purpose of informing, planning and supporting the needs of local housing finance agencies in their delivery of affordable housing in the State of Texas.

TALHFA has an active membership of over 250 professionals in all areas of affordable housing. Local Housing Finance Corporations, Bankers, Attorneys, Developers, Trustees, Service Providers, Consultants and many other professionals work together in offering solutions for home ownership and rental opportunities.

A NOTE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Dear Members & Friends,

Just like the Texas weather, affordable housing finance seems

to change daily.  In my own backyard, Tarrant County, Fort Worth

and entire North Central Texas Region are facing growing

challenges in creating much needed affordable housing

opportunities for our residents…from families just starting out

to mature families just trying to keep up.

TALHFA members and the affordable housing industry are responding with support from federal, state and local governments.  Opportunity Zones were recently announced in counties across the state, including over 500 sites in 140 Counties.  The goal of Opportunities Zones is to promote long-term investment in declining neighborhoods through tax credit incentives over a 10-year period. The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit also survived another round of elimination discussions, especially given the proposed corporate tax rate reductions. We must continue to build and rebuild our infrastructure, including high-quality affordable housing.

We are also looking forward to the upcoming Texas Legislative Session with the likelihood of countless new faces joining the legislature. We will be prepared to tell our story of the need for long-term affordable housing finance solutions.

I look forward to working with the entire TALHFA membership
to find new tools and to enhance the ones already in our housing finance tool box...

Respectfully,

Patricia Ward
TALHFA President

" It's amazing what we can do

when we come together."
